ד״ר אשרת אילון היא מרצה בכירה בחוג למערכות מידע ועומדת בראש מעבדת SoTI לחקר האינטראקציה בין חברה לטכנולוגיה. תחומי העניין המחקריים שלה מצויים בנקודת המפגש שבין אינטראקציה אדם–מחשב לבין פרטיות מידע, מתוך מטרה לתכנן ולעצב טכנולוגיות אתיות ובטוחות. במיוחד, אשרת חוקרת מוגנות ברשת בקרב ילדים ונוער. אשרת השלימה תואר ראשון במדעי החיים באוניברסיטת בן־גוריון בנגב, ותואר שני ושלישי בהנדסת תעשייה באוניברסיטת תל אביב. לאחר מכן, היא המשיכה למחקר פוסט-דוקטורט במכון מקס פלנק למערכות מחשוב בגרמניה.
