Lev Brutman, Proffessor of Computer Science at University of Haifa, passed away on August 25, 2001.
Lev Brutman joined the University of Haifa in the early 1980's, after completing his PhD at Tel-Aviv University. Prof. Brutman was a well-known researcher in approximation theory and numerical analysis. Lev Brutman was also an excellent teacher, and was highly regarded by his students. To the faculty members of the Department of Computer Science, he was also a dear friend.In spite of his serious illness, Lev continued to teach and to contribute to the department's undergraduate and graduate programs. He also made efforts to participate in professional international conferences, where his work was highly acclaimed.
His passing away was a great loss to the faculty, staff, and students of our department. His memory will be cherished.
